EXPLORING ONLINE OCEAN DATA AND RESOURCES
Dr. Lilian Krug is the Scientific Coordinator for the Partnership for Observation of the Global Ocean (POGO) and a collaborator researcher at the Centre for Marine and Environmental Research at the University of Algarve since 2019.
She has been teaching short courses focused on ocean data management, and online ocean data and resources for marine ecosystem analyses for international graduate students and early career researchers since 2012. At POGO, Dr Krug activities aim at the promotion of a truly global ocean observation system that serves science and society. This includes promoting capacity development, innovation in ocean observing, outreach, and advocacy.
Her research experience encompasses application of satellite and model data in coastal and oceanographic studies, with an emphasis on spatio-temporal analysis of ocean-atmosphere interaction and climate variability, as well as their impacts on marine and coastal ecosystems, and primary productivity. Some of her most important contributions include “Ocean surface partitioning strategies using Ocean Colour Remote Sensing: a review“ and “Patterns and drivers of phytoplankton phenology off SW Iberia: a phenoregion based perspective”.
